This month's book club was a little quieter with four of us joining on a gorgeous sunny morning. As ever, the discussion we had was varied and we had read a number of books, some of us less than others. Here are our recommendations for the last month. If you are interested in buying any books, please click on the image for online buying options. Of course you can also check your local library also.

Our group met in June with slightly less members than usual, however, it didn't stop us from filling our time with varied and full conversation as we always do. Here are a list of the books we have read and would recommend:
A few of us made the effort to trek through the snow to meet on the 16th and we were all happy to see Megan before she gives birth, hopefully before the month is out. I'll hold my hands up - I forgot to ask everyone what their recommendations for the month were, although we did talk about a lot of books! Our next set book club is coming up in May, and it may be an idea to source a copy soon if you plan to join in. Our pick for May is 'The Good Liar' by Nicholas Searle. You can join in here https://busypersonsbookclub.weebly.com/join-in.html. Local libraries also have a few copies so it should be easy to come by.
The next Book Club is April 20th and is not featuring a set book, I look forward to seeing you all there. Robyn

Ten of us met this November to talk about our favourite reads. As usual, conversations quickly digressed and a few of us found ourselves engrossed in philosophical conversations. We were also pleased to be called - the 'Young Book Club'. We had a huge selection and variety of books to talk about. Here are our favourite reads for the month:

9 months (and 9 meetings) later our group has grown and evolved to be friendly, strong and humorous which I am very proud to be part of.
Our book choices and recommendations range from every genre possible and we love to have some healthy discussions about our favourite (or not) books that we have been reading. I have read some books I'd never usually pick up in the library or book shop and am so glad to have the opportunity. More recently as a group we decided to have quarterly 'set book' book clubs and our first meeting of 'Together' by Julie Cohen was very successful, with great mixed reviews of the book. The hopes for the future are for our group to continue to evolve rather than grow in size and we are open to new suggestions as to how the Book Club works. I am very thankful for the contribution that all of our members have made so far and look forward to my monthly treat of a lovely hot drink, cake and talking about my love of reading. |
